Martin Luther King Jr. Day Community Art Activity 2012
I was asked to help out with Public Allies NY and the Police Athletic League’s “Reflect and Act” day of service for a second year (see last year’s photos here). Again, I created and implemented an art community activity with my colleague Jana-Lynne Umipig based on Martin Luther King Jr.’s ideals. Last year was a mural based activity and this year had an additional t-shirt component with the template of “I lead…” and an expression of how the kids lead in the community. The art activities were also supplemented with building care packages for homeless people of toiletries and amenities. I also created the banner for all of the marketing and social media surrounding the event, and blogged about it for the Ally Snapshots blog.
